Copyright & Takedown Policy
Effective Date: 1st January 2026 Website: nuggetnews.app Operated by: Nugget News
1. Our Commitment to Intellectual Property
Nugget News respects the intellectual property rights of creators, publishers, platforms, and rights holders. We are committed to operating in compliance with applicable copyright laws, including the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA), 17 U.S.C. § 512, and equivalent laws in other jurisdictions.
We produce original summaries, commentary, and curation of publicly available content from sources including YouTube, X (formerly Twitter), LinkedIn, podcasts, reports, articles, and other web sources. We do not claim ownership of any third-party content we reference, link to, or excerpt.
2. Our Attribution Practices
Nugget News attributes all referenced third-party content by:
- Identifying the original creator, author, publication, or platform by name wherever reasonably practicable;
- Linking directly to the original source where technically possible and permitted;
- Clearly distinguishing between Nugget News's original commentary and third-party material; and
- Crediting podcast guests, report authors, video creators, and journalists by name or handle when their work is discussed.
Attribution is a courtesy and does not substitute for a license where one is required. If you are a rights holder and believe attribution to your work is incorrect or missing, please contact us at nuggetnews01@gmail.com and we will promptly review and correct it.
3. Use of Quotations and Excerpts
Nugget News may include brief quotations or excerpts from third-party works for the purposes of commentary, criticism, news reporting, or educational reference. We endeavour to:
- Use only the minimum excerpt reasonably necessary to illustrate a point;
- Always accompany excerpts with original commentary or analysis;
- Clearly identify the source of any quoted material; and
- Avoid reproducing substantial portions of any original work in a manner that could substitute for or compete with the original.
We rely in good faith on the doctrines of fair use (U.S.), fair dealing (UK, Canada, Australia, India), or equivalent exceptions. We acknowledge that the applicability of these doctrines is fact-specific and context-dependent.
4. Reporting Alleged Copyright Infringement
If you are a copyright owner, or an agent authorised to act on behalf of a copyright owner, and you believe that any content on Nugget News infringes your copyright, you may submit a written takedown notice to our designated agent using the contact details in Section 9.
Please use the subject line: Copyright Takedown Notice – [Your Name / Work Title]
5. Required Information in a Takedown Notice
To be valid and actionable under the DMCA and similar laws, your notice must include all of the following:
-
Identification of the copyrighted work — A clear description of the copyrighted work you claim has been infringed. If multiple works are covered, a representative list.
-
Identification of the infringing material — The specific URL(s) or location(s) on Nugget News where the allegedly infringing content appears, with enough detail for us to locate it.
-
Your contact information — Your full legal name, mailing address, telephone number, and email address.
-
Good-faith statement — A statement that you have a good-faith belief that the use of the material in the manner complained of is not authorised by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law.
-
Accuracy and authority statement — A statement that the information in the notice is accurate and, under penalty of perjury, that you are the copyright owner or are authorised to act on the owner's behalf.
-
Signature — A physical or electronic signature of the copyright owner or their authorised agent.
Notices that are incomplete, vague, or lack the above information may not be actioned. We reserve the right to request additional information before processing a notice.
6. How Nugget News Will Respond
Upon receipt of a complete and valid takedown notice, Nugget News will:
- Acknowledge receipt within a reasonable timeframe (typically 2–5 business days);
- Review the notice in good faith against the identified content;
- Take appropriate action, which may include removing or disabling access to the identified content if the claim appears valid; and
- Notify the uploader or content contributor (if applicable) that their content has been removed or restricted, and provide them with a copy of the notice (with your personal contact details redacted where appropriate).
We are not obligated to act on notices that we determine in good faith to be incomplete, inaccurate, or filed in bad faith.
7. Temporary Removal and Disablement
Where Nugget News determines that a takedown notice raises a credible prima facie concern, we may:
- Temporarily remove or disable the identified content pending our review;
- Replace the content with a notice indicating it has been temporarily restricted; and
- Reinstate the content if we determine, following review or a valid counter-notice, that removal was not warranted.
Temporary removal does not constitute an admission of infringement.
8. Counter-Notice and Dispute Process
If you are the person who posted or contributed content that has been removed or disabled in response to a takedown notice, and you believe the removal was erroneous or based on misidentification, you may submit a counter-notice to our designated agent.
A valid counter-notice must include:
-
Identification of the removed content — The specific URL(s) or location(s) of the content before it was removed, and a description of where it appeared.
-
Your contact information — Your full legal name, mailing address, telephone number, and email address.
-
Good-faith statement — A statement under penalty of perjury that you have a good-faith belief that the content was removed as a result of a mistake or misidentification.
-
Consent to jurisdiction — A statement that you consent to the jurisdiction of the Federal District Court for the judicial district in which your address is located (or, if outside the U.S., any judicial district in which Nugget News may be found), and that you will accept service of process from the party who submitted the original takedown notice.
-
Signature — Your physical or electronic signature.
Following receipt of a valid counter-notice:
- Nugget News will forward a copy of the counter-notice to the original complainant;
- Unless the complainant notifies us that they have filed a court action seeking a restraining order against reinstatement, we may restore the content within 10–14 business days of receiving the counter-notice; and
- Nugget News's decision to reinstate or not reinstate content is made in good faith and does not constitute legal advice or a ruling on the merits of any dispute.
9. Repeat Infringer Policy
Nugget News maintains a policy of terminating or restricting access for contributors, users, or accounts that are found to be repeat infringers of copyright or other intellectual property rights. In determining whether an account or contributor is a repeat infringer, we will consider:
- The number of valid, uncontested takedown notices received relating to their contributions;
- Whether counter-notices were filed and whether disputes were resolved in the contributor's favour;
- The nature and severity of the alleged infringement(s); and
- Any relevant context, mitigating factors, or explanations provided.
We reserve the right to act on this policy at our discretion and without prior notice to the relevant party.
10. Misuse of Takedown Notices
Nugget News takes misuse of the takedown process seriously. Submitting a knowingly false, fraudulent, or bad-faith takedown notice — including notices intended to suppress legitimate commentary, criticism, or competing content — may expose the submitting party to civil liability under 17 U.S.C. § 512(f) and equivalent laws, as well as other legal consequences.
We reserve the right to:
- Decline to act on notices we determine in good faith to be abusive or filed in bad faith;
- Publicly note patterns of abusive notices where legally appropriate; and
- Seek appropriate remedies for damages caused by bad-faith submissions.
11. Other Intellectual Property Rights
This policy addresses copyright specifically. Nugget News also respects other intellectual property rights, including trademarks and trade secrets. If you have a concern relating to trademark infringement or other IP rights not covered by this copyright policy, please contact us at nuggetnews01@gmail.com and we will assess your concern in good faith.

13. Changes to This Policy
Nugget News reserves the right to update or modify this Copyright & Takedown Policy at any time. Changes will be effective upon posting to this page with an updated effective date. We encourage rights holders and contributors to review this policy periodically.
14. No Legal Advice
This policy is provided for informational purposes only and does not constitute legal advice. Nothing in this policy creates an attorney-client relationship. If you have questions about your specific rights or obligations under copyright law, you should consult a qualified intellectual property attorney in your jurisdiction.
